A new deal will give Ford Models Inc the opportunity to tap into MySpace with a deal that will allow perspective supermodels to apply through an official Ford Models Inc MySpace page to become SUPERDUPERMODELS!
Until now, the competition only accepted applicants from countries and cities where Ford Models has scouts on the ground. Now, aspiring models in any city will be able to participate through the competition’s MySpace profile, where they can apply and interact with the agency, scouts and models already on Ford’s roster. Additionally, visitors to the site will have access to videos, editorials, blogs and other content created by Ford models, artists, photographers, agents and stylists. The Ford Models MySpace profile creates an unparalleled free exchange of ideas between people interested in fashion and professionals in the industry.
“By tapping into the MySpace community, Ford Models will be able to engage with millions of new faces and potential models quickly and without any geographic constrictions,” said Shawn Gold, SVP of Marketing for MySpace. “At the same time, MySpace users all over the world will get unprecedented access to the world’s most prestigious modeling agency.”
This will certainly have one success story that they will ride to a phenomenal wave of publicity. However what I’m most looking forward to is the new wave of the world’s greatest supermodels capable of being photographed only with crookedly aimed cameras, heavy Photoshop filters, or mirrors and cameras kept at arm’s length.
Yes Ford, there’s a real crop of dynamos with fantastic…eyes? Nice body…well, actually, hmm…I think that’s her elbow maybe. Oh, how is she going to fit on a runway? Maybe she can do photographs? But why can I only see the side of her face? Oh God if that’s her good side, what’s the other side look like? What, did she eat the Hindenburg, then have it explode inside of her? WHY?!? WHY?????
And so on. She’ll totally have the respect of all her peers in the modeling community as well. Another “good in theory, bad in practice” idea.
