Aug.15.2007 John from Cincinnati got canceled
Ugh, not only has this show gotten canceled, but it got SO canceled, merely a couple days after the season finale. John from Cincinnati is dead, long live Zippy the Bird.
The surfer drama that aired its season finale this week will not return for a second run, the premium cable channel said Tuesday.
The move represents a rare cancellation by HBO of an hourlong drama after its freshman season and a misfire as the channel tries to build its post-”The Sopranos” schedule.
“John From Cincinnati,” which blended family drama with the metaphysical, earned mixed reviews and failed to spark audience interest.
WHAT ABOUT MY INTEREST? I stuck with this f*cking show because it was kind of cool and kind of confusing and I wanted a payoff. And what did I get? A surfboard to the balls. A surfboard of CANCELLATION. This is even worse than the one-season cancellation of Lucky Louie, another good show that was killed soon after its season wrapped. At least Lucky Louie was a sitcom and could stand on its own. I didn’t feel c*ckteased by Louie’s relationship with his daughter being unbearably confusing and random birds appearing alive again.
Even that confusing sh*tshow Carnivale got two seasons. No one cares about Big Love and yet it trucks on. So what the f*ck? I can’t be alone in my frustration here…everything I love dies. :(
